Low densely mat-forming cushion-shaped plant, with short, upright flower stems. Narrow crowded bright green leaves with a fine tip.

Tiny green flowers with one stamen, always in pairs (hence the species name of biflorus). Does not have a woody base.

Biology

Perennial. Sandy soils in grassland and woodland. Abundant in alpine areas. Also NZ.
