Tufted erect herb to 50 cm. Thick narrow leaves mainly at the base. Sprays of small lemony hairless flowers with five petals held in groups of two and three.

Small lemon yellow flowers in clusters.

Biology

Annual or perennial. Tolerates periodic inundation and likes open situations in full sun. Grassy wetlands. Seed becomes jelly-like on wetting and sticks it to the soil to aid germination, an adaptation for dry environments.
