Calotis scabiosifolia


Erect or upright perennial to 45 cm high, hairy, growing by creeping stems. Deeply dissected leaves at the base of the plant to 18 cm long with toothed margins. Stalkless leaves on the stem are much smaller and stem-clasping. Mauve to white flowerheads with yellow centres.

Distinctive Features

Attractive daisy with grey-green foliage, to 45 cm high, flowers tp 35 mm across, mauve to white. Burrs not as sharp as other Burr-daisies.

Biology

Perennial. Grows in open woodland and grassland, on heavy clay soils in low-lying areas, widespread. Often abundant in seasonally wet sites.Drought and frost tolerant. Locally common in the Riverina but rare south of the Divide.
