Suta flagellum

Small, slender snake up to 50 cm in length. Upper surface ranges from a tan to an orangy colour. The lower surface is generally cream.

Distinctive Markings

Black hourglass-shaped patch from the back of the nape to between the eyes. Each scale is emphasised by a dark edge.

Distinguished from juvenile brown snakes by the lack of a dark collar.

Diet

Carnivore. Small lizards.
Habitat

Eucalypt woodlands and associated grasslands, particularly stony hills. Often found sheltering under rocks and logs.
