Delicate mat-forming prostrate herb to 3 cm that suckers, forming a carpet up to 1 m diameter. Glossy spade-shaped leaves to 6 cm long with toothed wavy margins, crowded and forming dense rosettes. White or mauve two-lipped flowers on short stalks.

Distinctive Features

White or mauve two-lipped flowers. The lower lip is three-lobed and is spreading, with a yellow base bearing two white bumps. The upper lip is two lobed and much smaller.

Biology

Perennial. Moist to wet soil on swamp margins, grassy wetlands, herbfields and in damp places in riparian forest and woodlands.
