Vulpia bromoides


Erect or bent annual grass to 80 cm. Leaves up to 15 cm with flat smooth shining blades. Slender stems are ribbed and rough below the one-sided seedhead which is often nodding. Numerous seeds that have a straight terminal bristle (awn).

Biology

Common introduced naturalized annual grass on poor soils of roadsides, waste ground and disturbed areas in grasslands and woodlands. Plants are usually short-lived, with a weak root system. They are easily pulled out. Killed by fire.
