Small annual herb to 15 cm with lobed basal leaves and small, yellow flowers on long, erect stalks above the leaves.

Distinctive Features

Stems with long spreading hairs. Leaves sparsely hairy. Flowers hairy on the outside and towards the base on the inside.

Biology

Annual. Locally common on periodically moist sandy soils in low rainfall areas. Seed becomes jelly-like on wetting and sticks it to the soil to aid germination, an adaptation for dry environments.
