Rytidosperma penicillatum


Loosely tufted slender perennial grass to 70 cm in height, with fine flexuose leaves to 15 cm long and 2 mm wide. Leaves are variable and maybe glabrous or slightly hairy, flat, inrolled or folded. The slender seedhead is linear and is up to 15 com long and often purplish.

Rytidosperma species are moderately important fodder grasses with 10-25% crude protein when green, and moderate to high digestibility. Alpine forms have stiff leaves with a short compact flower stem.
