Pultenaea prostata


Low spreading grassland shrub scrambling through grasses and forming a spectacular orange-flowering mat. Deep orange pea flowers streaked with red enclosed in overlapping brown leaf-like structures (bracts) on the ends of the branches. Hairy pea pod hidden.

Leaves silky hairy when young, small with margins rolled under and a groove above.

Biology

Perennial shrub. Well-drained sites on basalt soils and lateritic gravels. Tolerates grazing (due to prostrate habit) and regenerates after fire.
