Single upright flower stem to 30 cm tall. Yellow flowers in a spike-like cluster. Petals and sepals to 22 mm long with bearded filaments. Fleshy green to grey-green rush-like leaves to 40 cm.

Distinctive Features

All six stamens are bearded with a ring of golden hairs that are open and spreading. Roots thick and fleshy.

Biology

Perennial. Rock Lily tends to grow in rocky situations in crevices on cliffs and summits at higher altitudes, and on coastal cliffs in the sea-spray. Tolerates saline conditions, drought, shade and coastal exposure.Ã_
