Slender trailing rhizomatous herb with fine rigid hairs on the stems. Blue-green opposite lance-shaped leaves tapering to a tip. Erect clusters of 1-6 pale blue to mauve cup-shaped flowers. Pale mauve, dark-veined flowers.

Opposite leaves up the stem with each pair at right angles to the previous (decussate).

Biology

Perennial. Moist well-drained and seasonally wet soils. Widespread in a range of environments including grassland, woodlands and forest, but rarely common. Dies back in dry periods and reshoots once it rains.
