Goodenia pinnatifida


Tufted erect herb up to 0.5 m tall, forming colonies up to 1 m wide or more. Leaves oblong to 8 cm long, with narrow or deep lobes giving a toother appearance, with few stem leaves. Distinctive large bright yellow flowers with five petals held in groups of two and three, bent sharply downwards.

Distinctive Features

Large bright yellow flowers to 5 cm wide, hairless on the outside and densely hairy inside.

Biology

Perennial. Widespread in grasslands, grassy woodlands and open forests across Vic. Tolerates dry conditions - may completely die back during summer and regenerate from underground rhizomes after rain. Can survive in lightly grazed paddocks.

Similar Species

There is an old record from the Port Dalrymple in Tas but there is some doubt as to whether the species was ever present in Tasmania.
