Ballantinia antipoda


A short-lived small annual to 5 cm high with sparsely haired prostrate stems and small stalked white flowers arising from a rosette of spoon-shaped leaves. Stems are sparsely haired. Flowers to 4 mm in diameter along upper stems. Fruits, elliptical 3-5 mm long.

Biology

Annual. Has very specific and finely balanced habitat requirements, occuring on sloping granite rockplates, on seasonally moist moss mats on a shallow soil layer and occasionally growing directly in shallow soil pockets.
