Rytidosperma laeve


Erect densely tufted perennial to 60 cm, with glabrous to slightly, flat hairy leaves to 20 cm and 2 mm wide. Compact dense seedheads 3-6 cm long, flowers often purplish.

Rytidosperma species are moderately important fodder grasses with 10-25% crude protein when green, and moderate to high digestibility. Very adaptable species. In alpine grasslands this species is stiffer and more upright with smooth shiny leaves. May also hybridise with related species.
