Bromus rubens

Slender softly hairy introduced grass with lax weak stems. Flat hairy leaves to 20 cm long and 5 mm wide with dense hairy flowerheads. Seeds have a straight bristle or awn to 25 mm.

Biology

Annual. Common weed of sandy dry bare places including dry lakebeds and river margins. Highly competitive with other grasses and capable of displacing native species. Prolific seed producer.
