Sclerolaena tricuspis


Hemispherical, straggling shrub to 80cm high. Branches weakly ribbed, often streaked red, smooth. Succulent grey-green leaves round in cross-section, to 15 mm long, sparsely cottony at base. Fruit 2-3 mm long with three divergent spines 6_12 mm long.

Perennial. Widespread but not common on heavy, seasonally wet, silty soils and clays. Vigarous coloniser in degraded saltbusg pastures and is difficult to eliminate. Unpalatable.
