Colobanthus curtisiae


Small perennial to 40 mm high, forming round tufts. Leaves crowded at base, 25-30mm long and 1-2 mm wide, soft, narrow, smooth-edged, tapering from base to an apex, terminating with fine hairs. Whitish flowers solitary and raised on thick short stalk. Whitish cupped flowers with five green narrow-triangular sepals that have a hair-like tip.

Biology

Perennial. Requires bare ground for recruitment from seed and responds well to some disturbance such as grazing. Mostly self-pollinated. Endemic to Tasmania. Seeds harvested by ants.
